Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and {{LEGAL ENTITY}} for the use of ShelfPics. Please read them carefully. They explain how credits and one-time payments work, what you may and may not do, and the limits of our responsibility.

Last updated: 24 October 2026

1. Who we are

ShelfPics is operated by {{LEGAL ENTITY}}, a {{LEGAL FORM}} with its registered office at {{REGISTERED OFFICE}} (Company number: {{COMPANY NUMBER}}), {{COUNTRY}} (“we”, “us”, “our”). You can contact us at support@shelfpics.com. Our support hours are Mon to Fri, 09:00 to 17:00 UTC.

2. Agreeing to these terms

By creating an account, buying a plan or using the website, the studio or any related page (the “Service”), you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy, our Refund Policy and our Cookie Policy. If you use the Service for a business, you confirm that you can bind that business, and “you” includes it. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

3. The service

ShelfPics is an online product photo studio. In the studio you can:

  • open a product photo and cut the product out of its background. This runs in your browser with an open-source segmentation model; your photo is not uploaded to us;
  • place the product on a clean backdrop (white, grey, colour or gradient), with a natural contact shadow, an optional reflection and brightness, contrast and warmth controls;
  • place the product on one of 8 AI lifestyle scene backdrops, generated from a fixed text description of the scene (see section 10);
  • export the result in marketplace and ad sizes as PNG, JPG, WebP, as single files or one ZIP, saved to your own device.

Cut-out, editing, resizing and export happen on your device, so speed and quality depend partly on your browser, device and the photo you use. The first time you open the studio, your browser downloads the model files (about 42 MB). We do not store your photos or finished files, so please keep your own copies. Features listed on our pricing page as coming soon are not part of the Service until we release them.

4. Accounts and eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to create an account or buy a plan.
  • Give a real name and an email address you control, and keep them up to date.
  • Keep your password secret and use a strong one. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us at once at support@shelfpics.com if you think someone else has access.
  • Accounts are personal. Do not share your login or let others use your credits. One person should not hold several accounts to get around limits.
  • You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Deleting your account removes your remaining credits and access, and does not by itself give a right to a refund.

5. Credits

The studio uses credits:

  • 1 credit = one clean-background shot. A shot is one product photo finished in one studio session. You can export it in as many sizes and formats as you like; it is charged once, when you first export it.
  • An AI scene backdrop costs 2 credits for each scene you generate. The generated backdrop can be reused for every export size of that shot. Generating a new version of a scene costs another 2 credits.
  • Credits are deducted on our server at the moment of the charge. If a scene fails to generate because of a problem on our side, the credits are returned automatically.
  • Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged, and are not a stored-value or e-money product.
  • Unused credits expire at the end of your access period (section 6).

If you think a charge is wrong, contact us and we will look at the shot records for your account.

6. Plans, payments and access period

We sell one-time plans, paid in US dollars through Stripe Payment Links:

  • Starter: $12, 60 credits, 1 month (30 days) of access.
  • Pro: $29, 220 credits, 3 months (90 days) of access.
  • Studio: $79, 800 credits, 12 months (365 days) of access.
  • Custom: for larger volumes, priced on request by email.
  • One-time payment. Each plan is a single payment. It is not a subscription, there is no automatic renewal and there is nothing to cancel. We will never charge your card again unless you choose to buy again.
  • Access period. Your access period starts when the plan is added to your account. When it ends, any unused credits expire and you would need to buy a plan again to keep creating shots.
  • Buying again. If you buy while a plan is active, the new credits are added to your balance and the new access days are added to your current end date.
  • How plans are added. After payment, Stripe sends you back to our success page, where our server confirms the payment with Stripe and adds the plan to the signed-in account once. If that does not work, email us your receipt and we will add it by hand.
  • Prices and taxes. Prices are shown on our pricing page and at checkout. Any taxes that apply are shown at checkout. We may change prices for future purchases; a change never affects a plan you already bought.
  • Payment processing. Stripe processes your payment. We never see your full card details. Your payment is also subject to Stripe’s terms.

7. Refunds

You can ask for a refund within 14 days of purchase if you have used less than 20% of the credits in that purchase, and in other cases such as billing errors or service faults. The full rules are in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms. If a payment is refunded, the credits and access from that purchase are removed from your account. If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, nothing in these terms reduces your statutory rights.

8. Your content and licence

You keep your rights

Your photos, cut-outs and finished images (“Your Content”) remain yours. We claim no rights in them. Subject to these terms and the rights of others in your photos, you may use your finished images for any lawful purpose, including commercial listings and ads.

The limited licence you give us

Your photos are processed by software we provide that runs on your device; they are not sent to us. To the extent any licence is needed for that software to process Your Content in your browser and for us to generate scene backdrops and deliver them to you, you give us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to do only that, for the sole purpose of providing the Service to you. This licence ends when you stop using the Service.

Your promises about your content

  • You own the products and photos you use, or you have permission from the rights holder to photograph them and use the images.
  • Your content does not infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark, design, privacy or other rights.
  • You have the consent of any person who appears in your photos, where the law requires it.
  • Your listings and ads made with the Service will be accurate and lawful.

9. No AI training on your content

We never use your content to train AI models. We do not receive your photos, and the only thing sent to our AI provider for a scene is the fixed text description of the scene you selected. This is our standing practice, not a setting you need to switch on.

10. AI output disclaimer

  • Scene backdrops are generated by an AI model (FLUX.1 schnell, run on Cloudflare Workers AI) from a fixed text prompt. The model returns an empty backdrop with no product in it. Your product is placed on top in your browser, so the AI does not alter your product.
  • AI output varies every time. We do not guarantee that a backdrop will have a particular look, layout, lighting or level of detail, or that it will be free of odd details. You can generate the scene again, which uses credits as set out in section 5.
  • Backdrops are generated at 1024 pixels and enlarged for larger export sizes, so they may look softer at large sizes.
  • Generated backdrops can resemble real places or objects but are not photographs of them. They are decoration for your product image. Do not use them to represent facts about your product, such as where it was made or how it is used.
  • Automatic background removal can make mistakes at edges, with transparent, shiny or fine details. Check every image before you publish it.
  • Marketplaces and ad platforms have their own image rules (for example a plain white background for main images). You are responsible for checking and following each platform’s rules. We do not guarantee that any platform will accept your images.

11. Acceptable use

You must not use the Service to create, edit or publish:

  • anything illegal, or that promotes illegal goods or activities;
  • adult or sexually explicit content, or any content that sexualises minors;
  • deepfakes, or images that impersonate a person, brand or business, or falsely suggest endorsement;
  • content that infringes intellectual property, including products, logos or images you are not entitled to use;
  • images of other people that you have no right to use;
  • fraudulent or deceptive listings, for example images that misrepresent what a buyer will receive, counterfeit goods or fake reviews;
  • hateful, harassing, violent or threatening content.

You must also not:

  • abuse credits, for example by exploiting a bug to get free credits or shots, or by charging back a payment you authorised while keeping the benefit;
  • use bots, scripts or automation to access the Service, other than the studio in a normal browser;
  • resell, rent or share access to your account or the Service, or offer it to others as your own service;
  • try to break, overload, probe or get around the security, rate limits or credit system of the Service, or access data that is not yours;
  • copy, decompile or reverse engineer our code except where the law allows it or an open-source licence permits it;
  • use the Service in a way that harms us, other users or third parties.

Good-faith security research reported to us under our Security page is welcome.

12. Our intellectual property

The ShelfPics name, logo, website, studio software, design, text and preset scene descriptions belong to {{LEGAL ENTITY}} or its licensors and are protected by law. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service under these terms while your account is in good standing. No other rights are granted.

Open-source components used in the Service remain under their own licences, which take priority for those components. They include:

  • ISNet general-use segmentation model, MIT licence;
  • Transformers.js, Apache License 2.0;
  • ONNX Runtime Web, MIT licence.

If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them freely without paying you, but we will not name you without permission.

13. Third-party services

The Service depends on these providers. Their own terms and policies apply to what they do:

  • Stripe for payments and checkout;
  • Cloudflare for hosting, our database and Workers AI scene generation;
  • Hugging Face and the jsDelivr CDN, which deliver the open-source model and runtime files to your browser.

We choose these providers with care but we are not responsible for their services, outages or changes outside our control. Links to other websites are for convenience and we do not control their content. See the sub-processor list in our Privacy Policy.

14. No performance guarantees

ShelfPics helps you make product images. We do not promise any business result. We do not guarantee more sales, clicks, conversions, better ad performance, search ranking, or that any marketplace or ad platform will approve your images or listings. Results depend on your products, prices, listings and many other factors outside our control.

15. Availability and changes to the service

  • We work to keep the Service running but do not promise any level of uptime. It may be unavailable at times, for example during maintenance, provider outages or events outside our control.
  • Scene generation depends on Cloudflare Workers AI and may be temporarily unavailable. When it is, clean-background shots keep working in your browser.
  • We may improve, change or remove features. If we remove a core feature you paid for during your access period, we will offer a fair solution, such as a pro-rata refund for unused credits.
  • If we ever close the Service, we will give reasonable advance notice in the Service and on our website, and by email where we can, and refund unused credits on active plans pro rata.

16. Suspension and termination

  • You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time.
  • We may suspend or close your account, with notice where reasonable, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we must do so by law, if your use creates a security or legal risk, or while a chargeback or suspected fraud is investigated.
  • If we close your account for a serious breach, unused credits are forfeited, unless the law requires otherwise. If we close it for any other reason, we will refund unused credits pro rata.
  • Sections that by their nature should survive (such as content warranties, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and governing law) continue after termination.

17. Disclaimers

To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that cut-outs or AI backdrops will be accurate, or that the Service will work on every browser or device. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights the law gives you, including the right to services provided with reasonable care and skill and digital content as described.

18. Limitation of liability

  • Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
  • Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profits, sales, business, revenue, goodwill or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
  • Because we do not store your photos or finished files, we are not responsible for their loss. Keep your own copies.
  • Subject to the first point, our total liability to you for all claims connected with the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
  • If you are a consumer, we are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our negligence. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, and we only supply the Service for domestic and private use or for your business as described in these terms.

19. Indemnity

If you use the Service for a business, you agree to compensate {{LEGAL ENTITY}} for reasonable losses, costs and claims (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your listings or ads, or your breach of these terms or of the law. We will tell you promptly about such a claim and let you take part in its defence. This section does not apply to consumers.

20. Governing law and courts

These terms and any dispute about them or the Service are governed by {{GOVERNING LAW}}. The courts of that jurisdiction have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of that country. Before going to court, please contact us at support@shelfpics.com so that we can try to resolve the issue.

21. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when we add features or when the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is material, we will tell signed-in users by email or a notice in the Service before it takes effect. Changes do not apply to plans bought before the change in a way that reduces what you paid for. If you do not agree to new terms, you can stop using the Service and ask for a refund of unused credits under our Refund Policy.

22. General

  • These terms, with the policies they refer to, are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest stays in force.
  • If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours to a business that takes over the Service, provided your rights are not reduced.
  • No one else has rights under these terms.
  • These terms are in English. We may give you notices by email to your account address or in the Service.
